The Key To Transformation

In Blog, Mind Renewal, New Creation by Curry Blake

Rom 12:1-2

1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. KJV

In the scripture above, we are told the importance of having our mind renewed. It simply states that we are transformed by renewing our minds. This is the only statement that tells us how to have our lives completely changed. People have tried many methods and programs to change their lives, but the Bible says that the ONLY way to have your life changed is by renewing your mind.

There is NO OTHER WAY!

The degree that the Word of God dictates your daily actions, is the degree that your mind is renewed and that is the degree to which your life is changed. If you have been following my teaching for any length of time, you probably know of the DHT (Divine Healing Technician) Training Seminars and the New Man Training Seminars that I teach around the world. For years I saw the results that the DHT training provided. Then one day I asked God why the DHT worked so well. He said it was because of the deeper understanding I had gained from studying and then teaching the “New Man” truths.

My next question of course was, “What can make it work better and faster?”. His answer didn’t really surprise me but it did open up a whole new realm of questions. He said, “Everything works according to the degree that your mind is renewed to it.”

So my next question was, “What’s the fastest way to get my mind renewed?”. He answered and said, “I can tell you, but you are not going to like it and everyone that actually did it would be called a cult.”

Now, He really had my attention!

In the newsletters that will follow, I will biblically and scientifically take you through the process of mind renewal. For years I searched for the answer that would cause the bible to fully dictate my daily actions (and reactions). I knew that we were supposed to obey the bible and do what it tells us to do. Many times I would actually catch myself doing the opposite of what the Bible said to do. I tried to figure out why I didn’t do what I truly wanted to do, which was be obedient to God and His Word.

During my spiritual adolescent years, I did what my teachers told me to do. I saw significant advancement in my spiritual life. When I heard the message of confessing God’s Word, I immediately knew that it was truth and I implemented it in my daily routine. I had heard messages on meditating on the Word of God, but they always told me to do it instead of telling me how to do it from the biblical perspective.

From my military days, I knew that the U.S. military was very adept at taking a raw recruit and transforming him within a matter of weeks into a soldier. I thought deeply about the process through which I had gone as a soldier and looked at the scriptures concerning confession and meditation. We will talk more about this aspect in a moment. I had already been implementing the confession aspect and the biblical meditation aspect (as well as I knew how) yet I hadn’t been able to make the miraculous breakthrough I knew I needed. I saw the confession aspect as a bricklayer laying bricks one at a time. I knew this would have a cumulative effect over time. I just wasn’t sure if I could wait that long. I needed breakthrough quickly. I needed help, and I needed it right then!

The confession process was working, I had seen my life become less like a roller-coaster and more like a train leaving the station. I was moving in the right direction but I was moving ever so slooowly. I had been through most of the self-help, positive motivation, and positive mental attitude stuff along with studying NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming). I had long ago decided that those were not the ways to go as a Christian.

What had amazed me about the military was that they could take anyone, and transform them to be what they wanted them to be. They could train individuals, with very different personalities and temperaments and train them to not only function as a team but actually think like a team.

The training had to reach a point where their conscious mind would cease controlling them and their sub-conscious would take over and dictate their actions. When their body screamed at their mind to quit, they had to know how to bypass that thought and do what was necessary (right). So I went back and began looking at two things:

1) Since everything changes according to the degree that the mind is renewed, I knew that the answer lie within the area of the mind. If you have already studied the “New Man”, you know that you are a tri-fold being; spirit, soul and body.

You know that the spirit part of you is the “real” you. It’s the motor that keeps everything else running. The bible says that the body without the spirit is dead (James 2:26). The soul is the reasoning, personality part of you. The soul is the sum total of all you’ve experienced during your life and is tainted by the spirit part of you to the degree that you train it. The body is the physical flesh and blood part of you.

The reason I’m pointing out these three parts is because you need to realize that, contrary to most teaching in the church today, you do not need to train your spirit. Your spirit was recreated by God, if you are a new creation (a new man). What God re-creates He re-creates in perfect condition. You were recreated perfect and complete (in the spirit). That means that in your spirit, the real you, you are perfect and complete, lacking nothing and needing nothing.

 2 Cor 5:17-18

17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; KJV

Col 2:10

And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: KJV

Remember, when you were “born-again” you were re-created “in Him”. The part of you that was re-created was your spirit. So your spirit is perfect and complete. God doesn’t need your help making your spirit right. Since it was your spirit that was re-created and not your body or your soul, then those are the two parts that you have to deal with. When you were born again, your spirit changed but your soul and your body didn’t.

That’s why we are told in Romans chapter 12 verses 1 & 2 that we are to “present our bodies…” and to renew our minds. As soon as I saw this I knew that this fit in exactly with how the military can take a raw recruit and turn him into a soldier in a matter of weeks. The military can’t really do anything to your spirit, but they can retrain how you think and retrain your body to respond instantly and to carry itself like a soldier. The military knows that the way to transform a person is to get that person to physically put into action what they are learning. They know that they need someone to model the action for the recruit so they can see it done correctly.

There is something called a “mirror neuron” that allows a person to see something and think they are doing it when they see it. This is the basis of discipleship. If a person can see something done, they will be able to do it accurately, much faster. There is a motto in the military that says: “Be, Know, Do”. This is what the military uses in the area of leadership training. In the Japanese martial arts there is a similar statement that goes like this: “Thought, Word, Deed”.

It simply means that before any action there is a thought. If a person thinks a thought enough, they will say it. If they say it enough, they will do it. Obviously, you can see the biblical corollary. Before you can say, you must think a thought. Out of the abundance of the heart (soul, mind), the mouth speaks. What you speak about enough you will do and in doing become. This is the essence of the confession message.

In renewing the mind we must realize that to renew the mind you must actually rewire the brain. The word “mind” is the word I use to encapsulate the total “organ” of the brain and its functioning. If you renew the mind, you are rewiring the brain. God has told us exactly how to rewire the brain and thus how to renew the mind. That is the process that I will guide you through in the following newsletters.
